Working from home

Why is it so hard to find legitimate work from home that doesn't involve selling something? I've been looking off and on since I left corporate America in May and can't seem to find anything other than opportunities to sell stuff or pyramid schemes.
I'm not really a "sales person" I just don't think I have the personality for it. Besides, the only way to really build that type of business is to start with family and friends and then work out from there. And to be honest, I think most of my family and friends are "partied" out because we've all been invited to so many of them over the years.
I've tried the "get paid to read e-mails" sites and found one that isn't too bad, but it takes forever to earn enough to get a check unless you sign up for all kinds of stuff and that's just not me. I'm also a member of one of the survey sites. Again, it's not so bad, but I've been on there 18 months or so and have only made $20.
I think the most frustrating thing is that I'm not looking to make A LOT of money. I'd be happy with something that brought in $100-$200/month - just enough to cover some of the "extras" and maybe let us save up a little to put towards vacations.
